PA Schools
In partnership with schools and Black Country Connexions, the Vine Trust Vine staff have trained as Connexions Partner Personal Advisors go into to schools offering mentoring, advice and guidance, support for year 11s and pupils preparing for key stage 4.
OPTIMISTIC
OPTIMISTIC is a mentoring scheme, working to reduce the number of young, minority ethnic pupils, disengaging from school life.Each young person has access to a trained advisor and aims to:· work towards enabling them to achieve and not disengage from school and/or become generally ·disaffected·/excluded through looking at issues eg. self-esteem, identity, self-awareness, self-control, authority, etc· enable them to cope better within their circumstances· give them reflection time· be a listening ear· assist them in managing their behaviour· inform them about how local democracy works and why it is not always possible to offer ·quick-fix· solutions to their problems. · the aim is to empower young BEM people with the global knowledge and skills to actively participate in making change.
